David Rosenthal (1969) is counsel and co-head of the IT practice at Homburger, a leading Swiss law business firm in Zürich, which he joined in April 2001. Before that, he headed his own legal consulting firm in Basel.

 

He studied law at the University of Basel. He started his career as a software developer and IT consultant. David Rosenthal established the first Swiss press and news service for the IT industry, he is a frequent panel speaker, and has published many articles and several books on IT- and law-related matters – and won two awards for his work. In 1998 he was appointed to the Swiss Federal Appeals Commission for Telecommunications and Postal Services. Since 2001, he has been a staff member of the National Economy Supply. He also served as an expert on IT and Internet law in various working groups and panels of the Swiss Federal Administration, the private industry and other national and international organizations.

 

Besides his work at Homburger, David Rosenthal is also lecturing Information Technology Law at the University of Basel Law School as well at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETHZ).

 

At Homburger, David Rosenthal has advised and advises on and negotiated a broad range of national and international IT, software and outsourcing transactions, regularly represents clients in technology related international arbitration and is experienced in data protection and secrecy laws, white collar investigations and e-discovery, telecom regulations, e-commerce, and internet law.

 

David Rosenthal lives in the area of Zurich, is married and has one son and one daughter.
